When constructing new structures, additions, remodels, and accessory buildings your contractor or you (if doing the work yourself), are responsible for obtaining all required permits before construction begins. In addition to building permits, separate permits are required for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
Application for a permit is obtained through the Building Department located at the Public Works Office. The physical address is 1 City Plaza Suite A. For you convenience a building permit application (PDF) is available which can be printed and filled out ahead of time.
There is no charge to submit a permit application. Permit fees are calculated when the plans are reviewed and the permit approved. All fees are due when the permit is issued.
A plumbing permit is required for new construction, repair remodel or yard lind change out of any plumbing system.
A mechanical permit is required when a mechanical (heating and air condition) is installed, repaired, or replaced. With the exceptions of any portable heating or cooling appliance.
