Application Process

For those interested in joining the Fire Department, no experience is required, but preferred. Here are the minimum qualifications to apply:

  1. Applicant must be 18 years of age.

  3. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record for last 3 years.
  4. Applicant must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.

If there is a testing period within 6 months of a submitted application, an applicant will be eligible for testing.

The first portion of the test will be the ladder climb and the physical agility test. For more information, please click the link titled ladder climb, physical test and hiring requirements.

The ladder climb is not a timed event but must be completed in a timely manner. The physical test is a timed event and must be passed within the established time limit to pass. If passed, applicants will be notified and given a time and date for the written exam. The written exam is a pass or fail test. Applicants must reach a minimum score of 70% to pass.

Finally, there will be an oral interview. Each candidate who makes it to this stage should come to their interview dressed professionally and ready to answer a wide range of questions.

Successful candidates will be rated and placed on a hiring list based on their scores from their entry test and oral interview, training certifications, and education. Once an individual is offered a position, he or she will have to take and pass a post-offer pre-employment physical.
